The New England Patriots logged their ninth training camp practice of the summer on Tuesday, their fourth consecutive padded session.
They returned to the fields behind Gillette Stadium after spending Monday’s practice indoors due to inclement weather. Head coach Mike Vrabel spoke to the media before practice, touching on several topics including A.J. Brown’s dislocated thumb and the star wide receiver’s camp battles with cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
During practice, quarterbacks Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito shined in their first two-minute drills of camp. Maye started 1-for-5 in 11-on-11s but completed 11 of his next 12 passes to finish 12-for-17 on the day.
Offseason addition Dre’Mont Jones had a strong day for the defense with a handful of pressures, including two would-be “sacks.”
Gabe Jacas, DeMario Douglas, TreVeyon Henderson, and Dre’Mont Jones were among the Patriots players to speak after practice.
