FOXBORO — In a game against his former team that obviously meant to him than most of the Patriots roster, it was surprising to see Stefon Diggs take on a reduced workload in Sunday’s loss to the Bills.

Diggs played just 26 of 52 offensive snaps against his former team. He was asked Wednesday how he adjusts to fluctuating playing time from week to week.

“(Expletive), I don’t know, for real. Just trying to get used to it,” Diggs said. “I mean, kind of was the same in the beginning of the year too. So, I just try to take advantage of the opportunities I do get. And when I am out there, be a vessel, be a positive force, rather than being any other way. I’m adjusting to it. Like, I just try to do what I’m asked, and then handle it the best way I can. I always want to be out there. I want to make plays, and I want to play at a high level. But we got a lot of skill guys. We got a lot of amazing players. So, I’m just doing what I can.”

Diggs was targeted four times and caught three passes for 26 yards in the 35-31 loss. He caught 10 passes on 12 targets for 146 yards in the Patriots’ first matchup of the season against the Bills in Week 5, a 23-20 win.

Diggs was asked a follow-up on if he would like the Patriots to ask him to do more.

“Hey man, that’s up to y’all,” Diggs said, smiling.

The 11th-year veteran wide receiver now has 67 catches for 731 yards with three touchdowns on the season, his first with the Patriots.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said after the Patriots’ bye week that the strength of the team’s wide receiver unit was the unit. Fifteen weeks into the season, that’s still not an issue for Diggs.
