Coming off a blowout loss, the road is only getting tougher for the New England Patriots.
The defending AFC champions, now 1-2, will face the undefeated Buffalo Bills in Week 4. It will be the Patriots’ first trip to the Bills’ new stadium, which opened this season.
The Patriots will hope history repeats itself this weekend in Buffalo. Just last year, Mike Vrabel’s squad was 1-2 before winning in Week 4 and then rolling into Western New York and toppling the 4-0 Bills.
While it’s easy to look back at last fall and wish for a similar easy-season shift, the Patriots’ issues have been glaring through three weeks. Drake Maye has seven turnovers so far, and New England is tied with the winless Miami Dolphins for the fewest points scored in the NFL (36).
Josh Allen and the Bills, meanwhile, have been dominant to open the new campaign. The league’s highest-scoring offense put up 36 points in Week 1 and 41 points in Week 2 before facing some trouble in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Bills had five turnovers in the game (3 fumbles, 2 interceptions), but the Chargers failed to capitalize as Buffalo held on to win 24-16.
