Red Sox fans will get a look at one of the club’s most interesting pitching prospects this afternoon.

Jake Bennett is scheduled to take the mound when the Red Sox face the Pirates up in Bradenton. The right-hander, who was acquired from the Nationals this past winter for Luis Perales in a prospect-for-prospect deal, currently ranks as Boston’s No. 7 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and is making his third appearance of the spring.

Bennett previously allowed one run over 1 1/3 innings on Feb. 25 against the Twins, and most recently he got the start in Tuesday’s exhibition against Team Puerto Rico. The 6-foot-6 right-hander was charged with three runs in 2/3 of an inning in that game, which was a much more electric atmosphere than anything the young pitcher had ever experienced in his career to that point.

Connor Wong and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are the most noteworthy names in the Red Sox lineup, with Wong batting cleanup and starting at catcher and Kiner-Falefa batting second and starting at third base. Andruw Monasterio is getting the start at first base, his latest opportunity as the Red Sox evaluate their options for the backup first base job.

Tyler Uberstine, Jacob Webb, Kyle Keller and Noah Song are all expected to pitch for Boston as well.
