The 2026 NBA All-Star festivities are underway, and for the fourth year in a row, Jaylen Brown is on the scene representing the Boston Celtics. While there are a slew of events set to take place, it sounds like there’s one event in particular that Brown would like to see in the future.

With Jayson Tatum missing the entire season to this point, Brown has taken his game to another level to help keep the C’s atop the Eastern Conference (29.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 4.7 APG, 48.3 FG%). The result is the fifth All-Star selection of his career, and some real consideration in the MVP race.

Brown will take part in the new All-Star Game format, but he has an idea for a new event. After seeing Unrivaled Basketball’s one-on-one tournament recently, Brown suggested the NBA make that a part of the All-Star festivities before challenging several of his fellow All-Stars.

“I’m actually a big fan of the one-on-one (tournament),” Brown said when speaking to reporters. “There’s some people that’s here this weekend that I would love to challenge. All of them. Luka (Doncic), Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander), (Jalen) Brunson, Donovan (Mitchell). I’d challenge all them guys one-on-one.”

For years, the NBA has struggled to find a way to make the All-Star Game competitive. With players being so focused on winning titles, they are simply looking to make it through the festivities without suffering any sort of injury, leading to a very boring product on the court.

A one-on-one tournament could be a good idea, assuming other players are interested in participating. First, the league will see how the All-Star festivities from this year are received, but if it’s another dud, they could loop back around to Brown’s idea.
