The Boston Celtics lost their second straight game on Monday, falling to the Detroit Pistons 112-105 at home. It’s the first time the Celtics have lost back-to-back games since early November.

Boston led for much of the game but wasn’t able to close out the Pistons in the second half, allowing them to rally for a come-from-behind victory. The Celtics had no answer down the stretch for Cade Cunningham, who racked up 32 points, 10 assists and four rebounds.

As usual, Jaylen Brown led the way for Boston, pouring in a game-high 34 points alongside eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.

Brown struggled at the free-throw line, however, going just 7-of-14 from the charity stripe. Several of those misses came during the fourth quarter, too, hampering the Celtics’ comeback attempt.

During his postgame press conference, Brown was hard on himself despite his monster performance.

“Especially the fourth quarter, just some mindset plays,” Brown said. “Fouls, I’m staying down in the shot fake, I had a turnover in the fourth and too many missed free throws. Mentality-wise, mindset-wise, I needed to be more for my team, and I wasn’t tonight.”

While Brown could have played a bit better during crunch time, he made plenty of big plays on both ends of the floor and Boston wouldn’t have been in the game without him. He’s been their MVP all season, and he played like it again on Monday.

Brown and the Celtics will get three days off before hosting the Miami Heat on Friday night.
