Leah Carlson scored her second game-winning goal this week as the freshman found the back of the net in overtime to lift No. 9 Medfield to a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Westwood to advance to the Division 2 state girls hockey semifinals against King Philip.

Elsewhere in the Div. 2 tournament, Brooke Hanley registered a hat trick as third-seeded Duxbury advanced to the Final Four with a 5-0 shutout of No. 6 Auburn.

    Boys hockey

In a Division 4 state quarterfinal, second-seeded Littleton/Bromfield (22-1-0) scored four goals in the opening eight minutes to post a 6-1 victory over Martha’s Vineyard at Ryan Arena in Watertown. The top line of Gavin Werling, Connor Glew and Blake Hannon combined to compile five goals and five assists. The Tigers will now face third-seeded Dover-Sherborn.

    Girls basketball

Sysy Emmanuel poured in 26 points and Charleigh Green backed her with 18 to fuel No. 3 St. Mary’s of Lynn (22-3) to a convincing 75-43 win over sixth-seeded Walpole in a Div. 2 state quarterfinal.

    Boys basketball

Brendan Loewen led the way with 23 points as No. 3 Georgetown defeated sixth-seeded Blue Hills, 66-63, in Division 4 state quarterfinal action.

    Class Notes

Norwell announced that Jessica Davos will be taking over as interim coach of its girls lacrosse program, effective immediately.

Davos spent the past two years with the Clippers as a volunteer assistant, and steps in for former coach Laura Callahan, who led the school to a Div. 4 state title last spring. Davos also coached in the same role at Hingham High School in 2023.

Prior to her days in the high school ranks, Davos served as a defensive coordinator at the University of Albany from 2010-2017, before becoming its interim coach in 2018. She later coached at Union College in 2022.

Norwell is one of the winningest girls lacrosse programs in Massachusetts, with nine championships overall.
