    Masconomet back on top, regains North gymnastics crown

    In the North Sectional, Masconomet regained its crown with a 144.875 as Sarah Aldrich took home the top spot in the floor routine with a 9.900. She also placed second in the vault with a 9.700 which was good for fourth overall. Kate Mugge placed first in the balance beam with a 9.850.

    Andover/North Reading placed second with a 142.350 while Wilmington/Bedford took third (141.375). Last year’s sectional champion Central Catholic will also be at next week’s state championship with a 140.375 thanks to a 9.750 in the vault for Kallie McCarthy.

    Beverly’s Carlina Moran had the best scores overall with a first in uneven bars (9.525), second in floor (9.600) third in vault (9.650) and tied for third in the balance beam (9.600).

    Newton North took home the South Sectional title with a 147.475 while Marlboro placed second with a 143.275. Westboro (142.375) and Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater (141.650) also qualified to compete in next week’s state championship.
