One of the biggest stories in the NFL this week is the return of 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers to the Indianapolis Colts.

While some players in the NFL today have never faced Rivers, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel competed against Phillips for several years.

During Vrabel’s media availability on Friday, reporters asked him for his thoughts on Rivers’ return.

“I always loved playing against him, a competitor, great for this league, and see how it goes,” Vrabel said.

Rivers hasn’t played in the NFL since 2020. Rivers played 17 seasons in the NFL, 16 with the Chargers and one with the Colts.

Colts quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a torn Achilles during last Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, putting him out for the remainder of the season. In light of this situation, Indianapolis needed to add another quarterback to its roster and opted to sign Rivers, a surprising move for many fans.

The Colts currently have an 8-5 record, one spot out of the playoffs. However, they still have a good chance of winning the AFC South, and Rivers could play a critical role coming down the stretch.
