FOXBORO — Adjust your mock drafts accordingly: Mike Vrabel says the Patriots aren’t changing positions on left tackle Will Campbell.

In a back-and-forth with reporters on Tuesday, Vrabel was asked about Campbell and his play this season. The rookie left tackle allowed 14 pressures in the Super Bowl, according to NextGen Stats, and Drake Maye’s pass-protection group struggled throughout New England’s 29-13 loss in Super Bowl 60.

“Will’s 22 years old,” Vrabel said. “He’s our left tackle. He’ll get better. He’ll get stronger. There were moments where he played well, moments where he blocked the guy. There’s plays he’d like to have back.

“We’re not moving Will to guard, or center, or tight end, or anywhere else.”

Campbell said Tuesday he understood why he was criticized after falling to Seattle. He admitted that watching the tape of the game was “terrible” and that “I expect more of myself.”

Vrabel noted that Campbell having his play so closely dissected is simply part of the job.

“You sign up to play left tackle,” Vrabel said, “you sign up to play corner, you sign up to play quarterback, you sign up to be the head coach, you get judged. You get scrutinized.”

Despite that scrutiny, Campbell can take solace in knowing that his job as Maye’s blindside protector moving forward is safe.
