    Mystic Valley’s Mitchell Damas had a night to remember on the basketball court.

    Damas shattered the school scoring record, erupting for an eye-popping 50 points while adding 18 rebounds to complete a tremendous double-double as Mystic Valley pulled away for a 91-60 victory over Notre Dame (Tyngsboro) in a nonleague tilt.

    In other boys basketball action,

    Allen Brown scored 24 points, Odens Massillion and Max McCormack scored 14 apiece in Holbrook’s 75-59 win over Diman. … Ben Stapleton scored 24 points and JJ MacLean backed him with 18 to lead West Bridgewater (10-7) to a 71-55 win over Apponequet.

    Michael Cimetti poured in a career-high 25 points, while Liam Conneely added 14 points as Hull defeated Essex Tech, 70-50.

    In a Northeastern Conference showdown, Connor Chiarello paced all scorers with 21 points, while Teddy O’Neill dropped 17 points as Swampscott (13-4) registered an impressive 58-52 victory over rival Salem. … Mark Mendonca registered 22 points, five steals, five assists and four rebounds for Peabody in a 62-44 win over Danvers. … Noah Bayersdorfer (23 points), Lucas Dos Santos (15 points) and Nico Ruggieri (13 points) broke into double figures for Winthrop in a 64-57 win over Gloucester.

    Ben Stapleton led with 24 points as West Bridgewater (10-7) qualified for the state tournament with a 71-55 South Coast Conference win over Apponequet.

    In the Cape Ann League, Rex Satter (17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and Vin Winter (10 points) combined for four 3-pointers in a big third quarter Ipswich used to beat Rockport and qualify for its first state tournament appearance since 2016. Anderson Pillis added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

    Geno Davis (24 points, six rebounds), Jamari Harrell (16 points, five rebounds) and Dimitri Mendes (14 points) paved the way for Cathedral (11-5) in a 73-68 Catholic Central League victory over Cardinal Spellman.

    Elkin Pena (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Javi Lopez (19 points, 10 rebounds) each registered a double-double as Central Catholic (15-2) cruised to a 68-46 win over Methuen in the Merrimack Valley Conference.

    Girls basketball

    In a nonleague contest, Kenzie O’Brien registered 21 points to go with seven rebounds as Boston Latin (6-9) coasted to a 61-16 victory over EMK. … Emma Plante erupted for 34 points, 17 rebounds and eight blocks as Case (7-10) defeated Diman, 55-25. … Grace McIsaac (eight fourth-quarter points) buried the winning three-pointer with 50 seconds remaining to lift Cardinal Spellman to a 32-31 win over Calvary Chapel.
