Former New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is expected to generate a lot of interest this offseason as a potential trade candidate.

Jones signed a two-year contract worth $8.4 million last offseason with the San Francisco 49ers, and he might be looking at a potential landing spot in the AFC East.

Antwan Staley, a writer for the New York Daily News, believes the New York Jets could trade for Jones this offseason. He also mentioned other quarterbacks to consider, including Jameis Winston from the New York Giants, Anthony Richardson from the Indianapolis Colts and Kyler Murray from the Arizona Cardinals.

“Another option would be to trade some draft picks for Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray,” Staley wrote Thursday. “The Cardinals are expected to move on from Murray after he played just five games due to a foot injury. Other quarterback trade options could include Anthony Richardson, Jameis Winston, and Mac Jones.

“But it remains to be seen if any of those players, who are backups, would drastically improve the Jets in a year in which many will place Aaron Glenn on the hot seat.”

Jones played in 11 games this season, starting in eight of them, and recorded impressive numbers with 2,151 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. With Brock Purdy solidified as the starter for the 49ers, there’s potential for San Francisco to consider trading Jones while his trade value is at a peak.
