New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is lucky that he walked out of Gillette Stadium on Monday.

Dart, who has made a habit out of taking monster hits this season, added several more to his resume in a blowout loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.

Harold Landry III, Elijah Ponder and K’Lavon Chaisson each got significant blows in on the rookie quarterback. Christian Elliss was the one who made headlines, however, delivering an extremely hard — and legal — hit on the signal-caller as he straddled the sidelines on an escape attempt in the first quarter. Dart quite literally left his feet, landing several feet into his own sideline and igniting a light fracas.

Elliss was asked if he wanted to deliver any messages after the game — which he finished with seven total tackles, including two that will land him on highlight reels for years to come.

“Uhhh, make sure to slide,” Elliss told Dart, per team-provided video.

“During the play I saw the scramble, I started chasing him down. I thought he was going to go out of bounds, but I saw him tip-toeing…what am I supposed to go? We play hard on defense.”

It’s good advice, though something tells us that the sophomore quarterback isn’t going to listen.

Dart has landed in concussion protocol four times this season, including one stint that kept him shelved for two games after being diagnosed with an official concussion following a Week 11 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Giants have asked him to tailor his game away from plays that put him in harm’s way, but until he does, don’t expect much to change.
