BOSTON (WHDH) – A New England Patriots rookie linebacker was arraigned in Newton District Court Wednesday after being accused of assaulting a woman at a Boston College dormitory.

Quintayvious Hutchins, 23, is charged with assault and battery on a household member. He pleaded not guilty.

Hutchins is accused of pushing, choking, and yelling at a woman at Voute Hall on the Boston College campus.

Boston College senior Gabriel Valadez said the altercation happened right outside his dorm room door.

“He was right up in her face. And this is a girl who’s about half his size, right, so that’s obviously not a good situation,” Valadez said. “There was a lot of cussing being thrown around, like, he was throwing around some profanity, definitely. He was like, something about head butting…so there were some nasty things being thrown out.”

Police said Hutchins and the woman both tried to downplay the incident after officers showed up, but police decided to arrest him.

Last year, Hutchins was a star player on the Boston College football team before he was picked by the Patriots in April. He was chosen by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft in April.

A longtime friend of the woman involved in the case said although he is a Patriots fan, he is not afraid to call out the behavior.

“Being from Boston I’ve always been a Patriots fan, but obviously you can also call out when things are wrong and not what they’re supposed to be,” said John Forry, a Boston College student. “So it’s just about having morality. You can call something what it is and still be a fan of the team.”

In a statement, the Patriots wrote, “We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.”
