FOXBORO — TreVeyon Henderson found the end zone Sunday for what the Patriots are hoping is the first of many touchdowns for the rookie running back.

The 2025 second-round pick plowed through defenders for a 5-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter to help the Patriots take a 21-6 lead.

He was all smiles after landing in the end zone and after the game.

“Felt good. First, I just want to thank god. It hasn’t been easy. It’s been a tough journey, but he’s been my strength,” Henderson said of his first career score. “He’s kept me focused. I’m excited that we came out with the win. Got to give credit to the O-line. They’ve been working so hard. I’m really thankful.”

Henderson finished the day with seven carries for 32 yards and two catches for 14 yards with the score.

It wasn’t an easy week for Patriots running backs after Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled twice and Antonio Gibson fumbled once in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Steelers.

But the running back stable didn’t put the ball on the ground, and all three backs averaged over 4 yards per rushing attempt in their 26-carry, 104-yard performance with three rushing touchdowns.

“I think we did a good job as a group of just holding one another accountable, encouraging one another and pushing forward,” Henderson said. “And not dwelling on the past, but coming to work this week, especially Mondre and Antonio, seeing how those guys approached practice this week really encouraged me.”
