    I’m going under (Going under)

Drowning in you (Drowning in you)

    I’m falling forever (Falling forever)

    I’ve got to break through

    I’m going under

Many people would argue that the 2003 Evanescence hit “Going Under” isn’t a good team anthem. They would be right. After the last month “Bring Me to Life” might be a better play in the clubhouse. Assuming anyone on the Red Sox knows who Evanescence is or remembers that month when the band was everywhere.

Boston is heading south for a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves, one of the other teams suffering this season from a failure to meet expectations.

The Braves took two-out-of-three from the Sox on Rivalry Weekend just a couple weeks ago and, while they had pulled to .500, have also fallen back to having more losses than wins.

Good news: The Red Sox will start Garrett Crochet and the Braves will not be starting Chris Sale, who pitched on Thursday.

Other good news: the Braves and Philadelphia Phillies played a doubleheader on Thursday with the Atlanta starter leaving the first game early due to injury. So their bullpen had trouble covering more innings than usual.

Roman Anthony might get called up? This is still probably unlikely but imagine how exciting it would be. If he is called up don’t worry, Over the Monster will have lots of coverage.

Lucas Giolito is coming off a 7.0 inning, 6 hit, 0 run start against the Baltimore Orioles. While his prior start was against these Atlanta Braves (4.0 innings, 6 earned) maybe he’s building up some success. He’s opposed by Grant Holmes, who has been a bit luckier but does have a worse FIP so maybe game one slight Sox advantage?

Game 2 is probably advantage Atlanta based on the pitching matchup. But you never know. Walker Buehler could keep them in the game and pray for bullpen support.

Game 3 on Sunday you’re just hoping for the Ace. Strider is recovering from several injuries and maybe the Sox can take advantage of that.

Bad news: Since their last meeting the Sox lost Alex Bregman while the Braves added Ronald Acuña Jr.

    Probable Pitching Matchups

Friday May 30: Lucas Giolito (5.27 ERA / 4.64 FIP) vs. Grant Holmes (3.68 ERA / 4.84 FIP)

Saturday May 31: Walker Buehler (3.95 ERA / 4.46 FIP) vs. Spencer Schwellenbach (3.42 ERA / 3.64 FIP)

Sunday June 1: Garrett Crochet (2.04 ERA / 2.70 FIP) vs. Spencer Strider (4.50 ERA / 4.93 FIP)

    When/Where to Watch

Friday May 29: 7:15 PM ET on Apple TV+

Saturday May 30: 4:10 PM ET on NESN

Sunday June 1: 1:35 PM ET on NESN, MLBN
