Stevie O’Malley completed the heartbreaker for No. 12 Archbishop Williams (11-10-2), potting the overtime winner from the top of the right circle to finish off a 3-2 upset win over No. 5 Reading in Div. 1 second-round play. Jack Healy had tied the game with 47 seconds left in regulation, firing a heavy shot from the neutral zone that skipped off a Rockets defender’s leg into the top corner beyond goalie JT Coyne’s reach.

“We had to fight and scrap for everything,” said Archbishop Williams head coach Chris Cunningham. “We caught a lucky break on that tying goal but I think we earned our breaks with our hard work. … (O’Malley) scored his first goal in over a month. He had been snake bitten. Perfect time to get one.”

Coyne and Bishops goalie Austin Gaylord were both otherwise stellar in net to keep it a low-scoring affair despite a bevy of chances from both teams throughout.

“They play tough in the D-zone and (Coyne) was is great, he doesn’t allow many,” Cunningham said. “(Gaylord) came up big for us as well. … Just a great team effort.”

Nick Tulipano and Aiden Scalia scored pivotal goals in the second period to lift No. 4 Burlington (16-5-1) a 3-1 win over No. 13 Duxbury in a Div. 2 second-round matchup. It sealed Burlington’s first trip to the state quarterfinals since 2013. … Senior Tommy O’Brien delivered the decisive blow for No. 9 Walpole (11-10-1), scoring the game-winner with 1:20 left to edge No. 8 Barnstable, 4-3, in a back-and-forth game. Michael Connors scored two go-ahead goals earlier for Walpole that the Red Hawks rallied from. … Kellen Labanara snapped the shutout in the second and Ryan Elrick added two goals in a four-goal third period, helping No. 1 Canton (21-1-0) break free for a 5-0 win over No. 16 Hopkinton.
