Trevor Story continues to make a strong case to win American League Comeback Player of the Year honors, and just recently became only the third shortstop in Boston Red Sox history to record 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a season.

Signed to a six-year $140 million deal before the 2022 season, Story battled injuries and inconsistency for much of his Red Sox tenure before putting it all together at the plate this season.

With that said, Story added his latest career superlative on Tuesday when he connected on career home run No. 200 off Baltimore Orioles starter Kyle Bradish in in the top of the second inning.

Leading off the frame, Story ambushed an 84.9 mph first-pitch slider and deposited it into the left field stands for his 200th career home run and a 1-0 Red Sox lead. And with his latest accomplishment, Story becomes only the seventh player since 2016 to record 200 home runs and 150 stolen bases, joining Jose Altuve, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, Shohei Ohtani, José Ramírez, and Christian Yelich.

In 129 games this season, Story is batting .260 with a team-leading 21 home runs and 83 RBIs, while swiping 23 stolen bases without being caught. Story’s 21 home runs are the most he’s hit since the 2021 season, when he swatted 24 as a member of the Colorado Rockies.

With the 32-year-old returning to form as a middle-of-the-order threat this year, and with the Red Sox currently tops in the American League Wild Card standings, a lot will be riding on Story’s bat and Gold Glove-caliber defense entering the final weeks of the regular season.
