MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Last week, Patriots veteran right tackle Morgan Moses lifted rookie Will Campbell’s spirits after a tough game. Campbell returned the favor in Sunday’s win over the Dolphins.

Moses, who came into the game with an ankle injury and was sporting a walking boot in the locker room after the Patriots’ Week 2 win, was flagged for three false starts against the Dolphins.

Campbell, 21, encouraged his 34-year-old teammate on the sideline.

“I appreciate Will,” Moses said. “Will came over to the sideline. He was like, ‘dude, like, you said the same thing to me, bro, like, leave it in the past.’ Just to have Will have my back like that. Obviously, he had his ups and downs last week, but for him to come to the sideline like, ‘hey, big dog. Like, it happens. You told me that last week, whether it’s Year 1 or Year 12, it happens.’”

The Patriots’ offensive line held up much better in pass protection Sunday than they did in their Week 1 loss to the Raiders. Penalties were a problem in the Week 2 victory, however. Campbell also was flagged for one false start, while left guard Jared Wilson was penalized for holding.

Moses didn’t use his ankle injuy or the Miami heat as excuses for his penalties. He simply said he needs to play better in the future.
