The New York Yankees had a busy trade deadline, acquiring relievers Camilo Doval, David Bednar and Jake Bird, as well as utilityman Jose Caballero.

The team officially added the quartet of newcomers to their roster on Friday, while also releasing two-time All-Star starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

“Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Added RHP David Bednar (#53), RHP Jake Bird (#59), RHP Camilo Doval (#75) and INF/OF José Caballero (#72) to the active roster. • Released RHP Marcus Stroman from the roster,” the Yankees official X account posted.

Stroman spent the first five-plus seasons of his career with the Toronto Blue Jays and made his first All-Star team in 2019 before being traded to the New York Mets that July. After opting out of the 2020 pandemic-shortened campaign, he played one more season in Queens in 2021 and then signed with the Chicago Cubs.

Stroman pitched two seasons with the Cubs, making his second Midsummer Classic in 2023, before inking a two-year, $37 million contract with the Yankees in January 2024.

He went 10-9 with a 4.31 ERA last season and missed two months earlier this year due to a knee injury. Stroman’s been limited to nine starts covering 39 innings in 2025 and despite going 3-2, he’s posted career highs in ERA (6.23) and WHIP (1.53).
