We like Mookie Betts and want him to be happy and feel fulfilled as a human. We don’t really like the ownership class and want them to, like, constantly have acid reflux or something. So it’s pretty great that Mookie won yet another award, this one for things he does off the field. Betts was named MLB’s 2025 Roberto Clemente award-winner for his philanthropic and community work. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)

We also like it when star baseball players act just like us — everyone puts on their pants one leg at a time, so they say* — so it’s cool to find out that a Red Sox player hates the Yankees as much as we do. TBH, though, it would be better if it was someone other than Aroldis Chapman trying to relate to the fanbase. (Lauren Campbell, MassLive)

Alex Bregman seems like the type of guy who would publicly discuss hating the Yankees, too. But right now we’re not sure whether he’s ever going to play for the Red Sox again. One report, though, says that the team is “hopeful” that they’ll re-sign the All-Star third baseman. (Jon Heyman, New York Post)

They should be hopeful, because they certainly have the money. Almost $100 million will be coming off the books for the Sox heading into the offseason. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)

Though, admittedly, they would have less money if they started slashing hot dog prices, as one writer suggests here. (Mac Cerullo, Boston Herald)

And they’ll need that sweet hot dog revenue when they finally need to extend Luis Perales, who is being called one of the most impressive arms in the Arizona Fall League. (Keith Law, The Athletic)

*I, Bryan Joiner, do not actually put my pants on one leg at a time, as I’ve invented my own patterned harness system that allows me to jump into both legs at once, which saves time and helps me stave off the knee and joint pain that comes from lifting your legs to put on pants every day. Some people are built different.
