2025 In A Discarded-On-The-Dugout-Floor NutshellIn a season that started with infield candidates ranging from Alex Bregman, Trevor Story, Kristian Campbell, Triston Casas, Rafael Devers, and Marcelo Mayer, David Hamilton managed to make it into 91 games. That’s way too many! His large presence in box scores is the byproduct of a tumultuous year in the infield.David Hamilton is fast, and actually plays good defense when used at second base. If he’s the last guy on your roster, he’s not a bad guy to have around.Everything else. His bat is poor to at times horrific, his baserunning isn’t anywhere near as…

The Patriots have a chance to extend their winning streak to five games at home Sunday when they take on the Falcons before hitting the road again in Week 10. The Patriots are in a surprising position at 6-2 and atop the AFC East standings near the midway point in the season. They’ve strung together two straight blowout wins over the Titans and Browns and are currently favored by 5.5 over the Falcons. Here’s what we’re watching on Sunday when the Falcons come to Gillette Stadium: • The Falcons have had one of the stingiest pass defenses in the NFL…
MILTON – All tricks and no treats when Natick came to visit Milton in the final week of the regular season. Milton head coach Steve Dembowski promised to be better in the second half with play calling and the longtime Wildcats’ leader proved it with a master class as Milton came back for a thrilling 21-14 victory over Bay State Conference nemesis Natick (6-2). Patrick Collins tossed his second touchdown for the game-winner with 1:34 left and found Patrick Mason wide open in the end zone on a perfectly timed play-action pass for the 32-yard touchdown strike to improve to…
Drake Maye has elevated his performance this season, and linebacker Robert Spillane praised Maye for developing into a strong leader. “Confidence, leadership, swag, he walks around with a lot of swag,” Spillane said on Thursday during NFL Network’s “The Insiders”, via Carlos A. Lopez. “A guy that people really gravitate towards. He has control of the locker room. Guys respect him, and he does not take that lightly.” Maye is currently in his second NFL season, and he’s playing like a seasoned veteran. Over eight games, Maye has thrown for 2,026 yards, racked up 15 touchdowns, and committed only three…

TORONTO (AP) — Yoshinobu Yamamoto beat Toronto for the second time in a week, slumping Mookie Betts hit a two-run single in a three-run third inning and the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers held off the Blue Jays 3-1 on Friday night to force the World Series to a decisive Game 7. Yamamoto was not quite as sharp as in his Game 2 four-hitter, the first World Series complete game in a decade. He lasted six innings and allowed only a third-inning RBI single by George Springer, who returned after missing two games with an injury to his right side.…
Give Todd Downing a share, too. If you were to divvy up the credit pie and award percentages to those who get the most for New England’s turnaround, a handful of names would surface before the Patriots wide receivers coach. Rightfully so, of course. Mike Vrabel and Drake Maye, in one order or the other, sit atop the list. Josh McDaniels likely is third in line. Perhaps the improved offensive line is up there, too. Where does Downing sit? Well, we’re not going to go down the line one by one. But he should sit somewhere. “The way he’s got…
By Jack Dolan, Los Angeles Times Kilian Jornet, one of the world’s most accomplished mountaineers, did something this month that left even other elite athletes gasping: He climbed all 72 summits in the contiguous United States that stand over 14,000 feet tall. In 31 days. That’s like climbing California’s Mt. Whitney — the nation’s tallest mountain outside of Alaska — two-and-a-half times per day, every day, for a month. But reaching so many summits, so quickly, was only half the battle. In fact, it was “the fun part,” a surprisingly rested-looking Jornet said in a Zoom interview from Seattle earlier…
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each had two goals and an assist to lead the Ottawa Senators over the Boston Bruins 7-2 on Monday night for their third straight win.Claude Giroux, Nick Cousins and Fabian Zetterlund also scored, and Leevi Merilainen made 26 saves. It was a redemption effort of sorts for the 23-year-old goalie who allowed seven goals to the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 15 in his only other start this season.Morgan Geekie scored on Boston’s first shot of the night after a defensive-zone turnover by the Senators. It was all the offense the Bruins could muster…
The New England Patriots don’t have many weaknesses on their roster, but Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi believes the pass rush could use some help. “Consistent pass rush is the biggest weakness,” Giardi said on Friday during “WEEI Afternoons”. “Some of the guys have decent individual numbers. Look at some of the pressures and things of that nature. Still, as much as I like the way the interior has played, even not just the two big guys (Milton Williams and Christian Barmore), but then Khyiris Tonga, Joshua Farme and even Cory Durden. “I think Mike (Vrabel) even pushed at this…
