Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images One more day until Red Sox baseball returns! The Red Sox not only return to action tomorrow afternoon (note the early start time of 2:20pm, it’s a Friday Cubs thing), but they kick off the stretch run with three major measuring stick series against the National League’s best in the Cubs, Phillies, and Dodgers. If they hold their own with these guys, they can hold their own with anybody. Not only that, but it should provide some incredible baseball with big stars in great settings. This could be the beginning of the best three months…

The Bruins struck gold with one player who was not qualified by his old team in Morgan Geekie. Can it happen a second time? While it may seem like a lot to ask for defenseman Jordan Harris to take the same kind leap that Geekie – who went from being to being an unwanted player in Seattle to a 33-goal scorer who last month signed a six-year, $33 million deal with the B’s – he is embracing his new opportunity with his hometown Bruins. The Haverhill native and Northeastern product was scheduled to be a restricted free agent with Columbus,…

The Summer League Celtics dispatched Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, winning 87-78 to improve to 3-1 in Las Vegas. Here are five takeaways from the victory: 1. Jordan Walsh regains his composure Walsh was whistled for seven personal fouls in the Celtics’ second Summer League game, then was ejected from the third after picking up two technicals in a seven-second span. The third-year pro delivered a much more controlled performance in game No. 4, punctuated by a highlight-reel windmill dunk in transition that helped Boston put the Lakers away late. It was one of two fast-break…

The New England Patriots might want to take notice of what went down Thursday. The NFL has seen an interesting phenomenon occur this offseason, as the majority of second-round picks from the 2025 NFL Draft remained unsigned as some teams started reporting to training camp. Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger (No. 33 overall) and Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins (No. 34) were the only to players picked in the round to sign prior to Thursday — with one very obvious factor being the reason. Higgins got a fully guaranteed deal, which empowered his fellow rookies to ask for something…

The Celtics reportedly had interest in signing Damian Lillard after his surprise release from the Milwaukee Bucks. Instead, Lillard elected for a homecoming. ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday reported the nine-time All-Star point guard was rejoining the Portland Trail Blazers on a three-year, $42 million contract. Lillard spent his first 11 NBA seasons in Portland before playing the last two in Milwaukee. The $14 million average annual salary likely was far more than the Celtics — whose precarious luxury tax situation as a second-apron team forced them to jettison key players this offseason — would have been willing to pay…

Just two games into his NBA Summer League career, however, the Spaniard has earned positive reviews from multiple coaches and teammates. Ahead of the team’s Summer League tilt against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, Isaiah Wong praised Gonzalez for his maturity. Wong is a 24-year-old shooting guard who played in one game with the Indiana Pacers during the 2023-24 campaign and 20 contests with the Charlotte Hornets last season. The…

The Boston Red Sox entered the 2025 MLB season with heightened expectations. After a disappointing start to the campaign, they’ve started to live up to those expectations with their recent hot streak. They entered the All-Star break with 10 consecutive wins, giving them a 53-45 record that puts them only three games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East standings. If the season ended today, they’d clinch the second AL Wild Card spot and their first postseason berth since 2021. But there’s still plenty of baseball left to be played, and the next two weeks could…
