The Bruins will take on the New York Islanders for the second time in a week on Tuesday, having beaten the them, 5-2, last Tuesday in Boston.

It was an ugly first period that night for the B’s, who fell down 2-0 before storming back for five unanswered goals for the win last Tuesday. That snapped a 4-0-1 streak for the Isles but, after losing to Carolina last Thursday, they responded by beating the Capitals on Saturday and then scoring a comeback victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.

The No. 1 overall pick, defenseman Matthew Schaefer, has been everything that’s been advertised and more. He’s second on the Isles with 5-5-10 totals.

The B’s will be looking for their first road win since they beat the Caps in Washington in their season opener.

“They’re a good team. They play connected very well. I think this will be exactly as the game was in Boston the other night. Whoever makes more mistakes will have a tough time,” coach Marco Sturm told reporters at UBS Arena. “We also feel like as a group, we’re due for a good road game.”

The B’s are coming off what was easily their best game of the season, especially from a defensive structure standpoint, in their 2-1 win over Carolina on Saturday.

“I can’t say it enough. That’s the way we have to play,” said Sturm.

The B’s will go with the same lineup, including Jeremy Swayman in net. Mason Lohrei will sit out his fourth straight game, while Jonathan Aspirot remains in the lineup on a third pair with Henry Jokiharju.

“Right now, those guys have been excellent, so there’s no reason to change. It has nothing to do with Mason,” said Sturm. “For Mason, he needs to wait and be ready when he’s called.”. …

Former Bruin Milan Lucic is continuing his comeback attempt. Lucic signed a professional tryout contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League. Lucic had signed a tryout deal with the St. Louis Blues in September but a training camp injury derailed any chance he had of making the club. The Thunderbirds are the AHL affiliate of the Blues.

The Providence Bruins have a home-and-home with Springfield, Dec. 6-7.

Lucic hasn’t played since he was arrested and charged for domestic assault in November 2003 while he was a member of the Bruins. Lucic entered the NHL’s player assistance program and the case was eventually dismissed.
