The Boston Red Sox had a great season, but unfortunately it did not end on a high note.

The Red Sox’s season ended in disappointment on Thursday with their 4-0 loss to the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series. Boston lost back-to-back games after winning Game 1, becoming the first team in MLB history to do so under the current Wild Card format.

While the Red Sox’s campaign didn’t have the ending their fans and players were hoping for, the future is still bright for Boston. With all of their young talent, the Red Sox are poised to contend for years to come.

Boston catcher Carlos Narvaez acknowledged that disappointment and optimism with an emotional Instagram post on Friday, posting 17 pictures from the season along with a heartfelt caption.

“I know it doesn’t feel good.. we wanted it as bad as you did Red Sox fans. This is just the beginning of an amazing, young, talented and very united group. Love you everyone of you guys! Thank you (heart emoji),” Narvaez wrote.

At 26 years old and coming off an impressive rookie season, Narvaez looks like a key part of the team’s bright future. He immediately established himself as a leader and one of the league’s best catchers in his first season with Boston, batting .241/.306/.419 with 15 homers, 50 RBI and 2.8 WAR in 118 games.

With rising stars like Narvaez, Roman Anthony, Garrett Crochet, Ceddanne Rafaela and others all on their way up, the Red Sox appear headed for bigger and better things. This season was a big step in the right direction, and it seems like only the start of an exciting new era of Boston baseball.
