Tom Brady showed no New England Patriots bias when handing out personal awards for the 2025 NFL season.

The iconic Patriots quarterback overlooked their new franchise signal-caller when picking Matthew Stafford as his “LFG Player of the Year.” Brady explained why he chose the Los Angeles Rams veteran in a Fox Sports video.

“I covered him a bunch this year. I was so impressed by what he did throughout the entire season,” Brady said of Stafford. “I think his consistency was incredible. He showed up in the biggest moments for his teammates. He made throws that so few guys in the NFL can make.”

Brady credited Stafford’s success on the road, even though the Rams went 5-4 away from SoFi Stadium during the regular season. Meanwhile, Maye posted a 120.3 quarterback rating in eight Patriots victories outside of Gillette Stadium before leading an AFC Championship Game win at Denver.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion also praised Stafford for playing one game without star wide receiver Puka Nacua and three without Davante Adams.

“He did it in tough conditions,” Brady added. “And look, they play in the dome out there at SoFi all the time, but he went on the road. They were great on the road, and they were great when he had his main guys go down a few times. Puka was down, Davante was down, and he always found ways to produce.”

Adding further insult to Patriots fans, Brady then gave honorable mentions to an AFC East rival and a Super Bowl LX opponent over Maye. He shouted out Buffalo Bills running back James Cook and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
