What to Know

  • The Patriots reportedly have signed three players since free agency opened Monday.
  • DL Khyiris Tonga, TE Austin Hooper and OL Vederian Lowe signed elsewhere in free agency.
  • Jaylinn Hawkins and K’Lavon Chaisson are among the Patriots’ top pending free agents who remain unsigned.
  • New England could use more depth at WR and TE, among other positions.
  • Signings can become official at the start of the new league year on Wednesday, March 11.

In 2025, the New England Patriots came out swinging on the first day of free agency. This year, they appear to be taking a different approach.

Mike Vrabel’s club signed just three players Monday — DE Dre’Mont Jones, FB Reggie Gilliam and OG Alijah Vera-Tucker — while watching big names like wide receivers Alec Pierce and Mike Evans go off the board.

Arguably the Patriots’ most pressing need is at wide receiver, and while they could address that need on the trade market (A.J. Brown, perhaps?), there are still available wideouts worth considering in free agency.
