Red Sox pitcher Walker Bueher took the loss against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday at Truist Park.

His day wasn’t good by any means. Buehler allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

“Not a whole lot good. Put us in a hole right out the jump,” Buehler told reporters in Atlanta after the Boston loss. “Huge inning when we’re trying to get going. Yeah, (expeltive) kind of all around.”

Buehler had a strong run of starts before he hit the injured list at the beginning of May, going 3-0 in his last three starts and allowed no more than three runs in four consecutive outings.

“Physically, I feel fine,” he said. “Today was probably the hardest I’ve thrown in a start in years. With all the (stuff) we look through on velocity and spin and all that stff, sometimes you kind of realize it’s not all about that.

“No that I feel like I was trying to overthrow, I just had good velocity today. Oviously, it didn’t work out for me and for the team.”

Buehler has a 4.44 ERA through the first nine starts of his Red Sox tenure, with 42 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings of work.

“Obviously, I’d like to punch more guys (out),” Buehler said. “I’d like to give up less runs, I’d like to go deeper in games. There’s things I want to improve on, but today included and the first two starts of the year, outside of that, I feel pretty good about it.

“… I think last year, I struggled pretty bad and I had no idea what was happening or what I could improve, and I think every start’s had a little bit of something different that maybe I think helps going foward. I’m definitley more optimistic than I was last year, and I trust the guys here a lot to kind of keep steering them in the right direction.”
